Testifying Expert Services
Our partners have provided expert reports and testimony throughout the State of Texas in conjunction with divorce litigation, business litigation, bankruptcy and criminal litigation. When selecting a testifying expert, it is important to select an experienced professional. If it is determined that the professional you select does not qualify as an expert, their report cannot be used and they will not be able to testify as an expert. When selecting an expert, ask the expert:
- How many times they have prepared reports in the state your case is filed
- How many times they have testified for your type of case – divorce, criminal, bankruptcy, etc.
- If they have ever failed a Daubert challenge
- How many times they have been engaged as a testifying expert
- If they have ever had a report disqualified in court
- How many times they have performed a business valuation for a business in the same industry as your business
- How many tracing and characterization engagements they have completed
- How many years of marriage they have traced for one case
- How many accounts they have traced for one case
- What are their credentials for the type of services they will need to perform for your case
After asking these questions, make sure that the expert’s experience fits the characteristics of your case before hiring your expert.
